Figures are estimates for planning only, not investment or tax advice.

The Employees’ Provident Fund takes 12% of your basic salary plus dearness allowance every month, matches it from your employer, and compounds the balance at a rate declared each year by the EPFO. This calculator projects the balance at retirement.

How the employer share splits

Your 12% goes entirely into the provident fund. Of the employer’s 12%, 8.33% of basic (capped at ₹15,000 of basic, so ₹1,250) goes to the Employees’ Pension Scheme and the rest goes into the PF. The calculator models the PF portion, which is the balance you can withdraw.

Why the annual increase matters

Because contributions are a percentage of salary, a 5% annual increment raises every future contribution. Over a 30-year career that assumption changes the final balance more than the interest rate does.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current EPF interest rate?

The EPFO declares it each year; recent years have been around 8.25%. Adjust the rate field to match the latest declaration.

Is EPF withdrawal taxable?

Not if you have five years of continuous service. Withdraw earlier and both the contribution and the interest become taxable.

Can I contribute more than 12%?

Yes, through the Voluntary Provident Fund, up to 100% of basic + DA. Interest above ₹2.5 lakh of annual contribution is taxable.
