The Atal Pension Yojana guarantees a fixed monthly pension of ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 from age 60. What you pay depends entirely on the age you join — the younger you start, the smaller the contribution. This calculator uses the official contribution chart.
Why age matters so much
Joining at 18 for a ₹5,000 pension costs ₹210 a month. Joining at 39 for the same pension costs ₹1,318. The scheme closes to new entrants at 40, and contributions continue until 60 whichever age you join.
What the nominee gets
On the subscriber’s death the spouse continues to receive the same pension, and after both, the nominee receives the accumulated corpus — ₹1.7 lakh for a ₹1,000 pension, up to ₹8.5 lakh for ₹5,000.
